Hepatitis C is a type of liver infection that can result in significant liver damage. Hepatitis C virus causes this disease. More than 4 million people in the United States suffer from hepatitis C. Hepatitis C causes far fewer symptoms; therefore it is very difficult to detect it; people may not know they have the disease. The virus can spread through the body fluids and blood of an infected person. There are different forms of hepatitis C virus; Type 1 is the most common hepatitis C. Different types of virus respond differently to treatment.
Symptoms of hepatitis C
Many patients have hepatitis C but show no symptoms. When the virus finally enters the blood of an infected person; then symptoms of hepatitis C begin to appear. Some symptoms indicate that a person is infected with hepatitis C.
- Shit the color of clay.
- Fever.
- Dark urine.
- Jaundice (This condition causes yellow skin and eyes; also dark urine).
- Fatigue.
- Loss of appetite.
- Joint ache.
- Abdominal pain.
- Nausea.
- Vomiting.
Symptoms are usually active for 3 to 13 weeks; during this period you can understand that a person is infected with hepatitis C.
Symptoms of advanced hepatitis C
When hepatitis C infection progresses to an advanced stage, it shows some different symptoms compared to the acute stage.
- Formation of fluid in the abdominal cavity or legs.
- The patient's brain does not work properly (encephalopathy).
- Bruises and also bleeds easily.
- Kidney failure.
- Muscle loss.
- A tremendous amount of itching.
- Veins show a typical spider-like design on the skin.
- Problems with concentration and memory.
- Gallstone.
- Weight loss.
- Bleeding into the lower esophagus occurs, resulting in vomiting of blood.
